Ink cartridges are expensive as I only use OEM Canon cartridges because of bad experiences with aftermarket brands that foul up the inkjets. As it is, you must empty the bottom tray of paper and load your envelopes from there. Wish the top tray or ADF took #10 envelopes. The IJ Scan Utility has nowhere near the options or ease of the older MP Navigator scanner software for scanning multiple pages. Makes a lot of strange noises when printing. Samba/CUPS made this an easy 5 minute setup.Ĭomplaints -> The 1st page takes 2 minutes or more to begin (Windows or Linux), but is a little faster than my older MP780 once it gets going.

Canon Europe has the Linux driver needed for this printer. Networked thru Ethernet router between several Windows and Linux PCs. Copying from the ADF is quick and very accurate to the original.

Printing on CD's comes out marvelous though you must install the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX software for it to work.
B&W text is crisper than the MP780 and photo printing is accurate, once you calibrate your monitor to the printer. Purchased the MX922 and am very satisfied. Had a Canon MP780 Multi-function for over 12 years that ran great until the printhead finally gave up. I like it, but I think anyone setting it up will need a bit of tech experience from an application (not hardware) standpoint. The output is very nice, but I haven't used all features yet. I had trouble detecting it on the network with one of our laptops and one of our phones, but the other phone and PC had no trouble. Set-up was easy for my two computers, but tough on a netbook because the installation software didn't conform to 1024圆40 and you have to go to Canon to download the software if you don't have a CD drive. The paper feed tray is closed, and maximum size is A4 (8.5 x 11), so don't expect to use legal-sized paper (8.5 x 14) in it.
The look is sleek, but it's a giant paperweight on a desk. What is nice is that if the tray is closed, the printer will queue printings until it is opened. While it appears compact, the Pixma 922 is a giant bulky beast that is quite deep (physically) at 16", or 23" if you want the print receipt tray open so you can actually print. I've set-up two of these printers, but only been working with them for a week, so this review is preliminary until I can iron out all the issues.
